Money To Burn: Your Stimulus At Work

It's a great day in America and a great day to wonder what happened to the Great Change which swept into Washington last month. A new president, new ideas (although with the same stale, old Congress), and new energy: the times were going to get better, we were told. Just wait and see.
The following is what the stimulus package includes, for those who really wonder. These 'necessary programs' will probably get cut, yet you have to wonder what the thinking is in Washington these days when the following programs are included in a bill designed to 'avert a crisis': Children's Contraception programs (contraceptives included, I think), funding for the arts (actually funding for the 'arts'), restoration of the national mall, anti- and stop-smoking programs, money to study the effects of telemarketers making calls after 6pm, etc.
So, these are some of the programs included in the Democratic version of the stimulus bill which is 'necessary' to prevent a 'catastrophe' and get out of this 'crisis'.
I remember reading how everything was going to change on January 20, 2009. I remember how it was the 'End of an Error' and a new beginning. Ah, change. Good
During this comedy, let's not forget many Americans daily lose their homes, their jobs, their retirement and their savings.
So. Mr. President, I know it's hard - probably impossible - to put aside partisanship when you have to deal with people so out of touch with America they might as well be from another planet, but please try to enlist an ally which is sorely absent from your cabinet and your administration: Common Sense.

Michael, a really good article yet we must not lose sight of the fact this is and was never about average day to day Americans. The rhetoric, the words selected all imply that but the reality is way different. Frankly the majority of readers on any web site are for the most part the have. That is they may complain but they are comfortable, still believe and are the audience our politicians gear towards. The rest do not matter. Frank words but reality. They will only matter when those that have suddenly find they having less and less. You see in a socialized economy someone has to pay for those that can't. Guess who that leaves? So, in my opinion of course and by too many experiences, it never was about common everyday folk. It never was and it never will be. Best wishes.Thanks. You hit the nail on the head there, I think. The common, average everyday American carries the load and pays the price. And this is the person who doesn't seem to matter to our political heroes since he has no need for the government to help. Without a special interest or a sense of entitlement, this person falls by the wayside. Thanks for your comment, sir.
