The New Fad: Don't Think!

Another in a long, endless supply of beauiful days in America and we as a nation realize change has indeed come to Washington. Those bad days of torture and war are over, the good days of change and empowerment are here. We should shout from the rooftops!

Well, maybe not.

Many rooftops are in forclosure, we are told. It's the economy, that's the reason things are so bad and that's the reason we (you and I) must pay for it. We don't mind, though. Change is here! Don't think the reason many (not all) houses are in foreclosure is the simple reason the owners could never afford them to begin with, or never read their contracts. Don't think there is no way a couple earning 50k a year can afford a house worth a million. Don't think when that couple gets thrown out of that house they deserve what they get because, remember, it isn't their fault. It's the economy.

Don't think of the auto bailout of GM and Chrysler. Remember the old saying, 'so GM goes, so goes America?' We have to help these automakers. Don't think of the fact these companies have had well over thirty years to design and manufacture more efficent vehicles. That's right, since the oil embargo of the seventies. Don't think that just this past year (2008), GM made more trucks than ever before. Just realize change is here and we are all in this together.

Don't think of the bank bailouts, specifically Chase and Bank of America. Where is this money going? Don't think about it, the banks can't fail. Don't think about the fact banks fail every year, and your deposits are insured regardless of a bank's success or failure. Don't think about the amount of money these banks take in (still, in spite of bailouts) with fees you must pay to access your money.

I'm really on a roll here, aren't I? Don't think about it . . .

Don't think about the 'Conscience Clause' the Obama administration wants to 'clarify' with regard to healthcare. This clause basically allows doctors and nurses to refuse to perform abortions on moral grounds without repercussions. Doctors aren't supposed to take life, anyway, but don't think about that! Don't think or wonder about what 'clarification' is needed since change is here.

Don't think about all of this talk of socialism since change is here and we have to do something, right? Don't think about taxing the rich so much they haven't the money to invest in new buildings and businesses, which means they haven't the money to hire more employees. Don't think that a tax cut for 95% of working Americans means nothing when your gasoline taxes, heating oil taxes, electricity taxes and property taxes are increased and you end up paying more taxes than before.

Don't think about the fact all of the jobs this administration plans to create are government jobs. We don't mind, and we really don't think there is too much waste in Washington as it is. We might if we really thought about it, but don't think!

Don't think about the fact we currently spend almost $12000 per student per year in this country for education (on average), and we are about to throw more money at this 'problem' without thinking what could be done to make the family stronger, what could be done to prevent juvenile (and gang) crime, and what could be done to make that kid want to read and spell and add when he graduates.

Think about this, though: The problem with socialism, taxing the rich to death, and robbing Peter to pay Paul is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money.
