I Don't Mind The Whitewash, I Just Don't Want To Be Taken To The Cleaners

Another great day in America and here we are, once again, wondering how the 'Health Care Reform' measures are going. The latest news is the Republicans (the party of 'no', apparently) are blocking what they call the latest in a series of side-deals and backroom tactics to get something passed many people don't want passed.

The Democrats (or the party of 'why not?') are trying to pass this behemoth without a straight up-or-down vote, which makes me wonder where the Hope and Change is? Mr. Obama wants this vote to hold everyone accountable, which makes perfect sense. The American people (probably) want this vote, to hold their own political employees accountable. And yet, the powers that be in Congress don't want this vote since they, as usual, do not want to be held accountable.

Some are calling the tactics (a word which, used in politics, should make you wonder a little) by the Democats another example of Washington gamesmanship, another shell-game where the American people will be left holding the bag.

I don't know, to be honest, what the big deal is. We know those in Congress are willing to throw the American people under the bus to get their power-grab, and we know Mr. Obama is at least trying to be open about this (after the 'we'll televise everything on C-SPAN' debacle, of course). We also know the Republicans main mission these days is to take advantage of the Democrats' missteps and apparent lack of ethics to vote No on every proposal.

What we don't know is why this is news all of a sudden. Didn't we know this would happen when poll after poll showed the American people didn't want the plan offered? Didn't we know the shell-games would continue since we the people cannot seem to tell the difference between Change and The Same?

We know Washington needs to drive this thing, we just need to realize we don't want to be taken for a ride . . .

I keep seeing a soundbite on TV where this congressman says "I don't like the bill, but I'll vote for it."

Huh?

Good stuff here, Michael.

Thanks very much, Ken. I am so . . . bored with this whole shell-game. The jobs bill which was just signed into law got very little coverage because of the 'countdown' on this fiasco. I just wish these people would say what they mean and do what they say!

Thanks also for visiting my site, outdated as it is (I really need to work on it).
