April Fools Day: The Silence Of The Politicians

Another beautiful night sweeps over America and tomorrow is April Fools Day, and to celebrate I think we as a nation should do something a little different.
Let's have a day without politics.
I know, many reading this are political junkies and going an entire day without politics is unimaginable, yet think about it: one day without partisan bickering, one day without promises made and promises broken, one day without pundits (which still sounds like a bad word for some reason) telling us what politicians are really saying, one day without bloggers telling us what politicians are really thinking, one day without long run-on sentences by people trying to convince us of something (I know, I am getting carried away here!) . . .
Really.
So. A day without national bickering and political protests and targets on maps and name-calling and labeling and left and right and ultra-whatever. A day with . . . national peace.
And, of course, silence.
If we as a nation can't get together in a civil way to discuss the important issues of the day, perhaps we really do need a day, one day, for us to sit back and reflect, and to check our premises.
One day. Is it really too much to ask?

We do need politicians, all of us, just as we all need lawyers. The 'Silence' would be just for one day, and mostly it is to take a short break from what some might call a necessary evil. Thanks for the input, though.
I like the idea, Michael... If only it were not April's fool. ~mogama~Thank you, sir. I appreciate it. I wonder if I should start a movement?Sometimes I crack myself up! Thanks again.
And then there's the political pundit junkies- the madness never stops.Make up a petition and I'll sign it, the "No Politics Day" mandate. Or, how about No Politics DURING the day?Good stuff here, MichaelI am seriously considering this idea, Ken. I just need to come up with a catchy name for it and spread the word. Thanks for reading and commenting, as always.
